Hope for Tanzania

Strengthening of the Church in Tanzania

Added 16 January 2011

The church in Tanzania is strong in numbers with many vibrant members who love to worship God and are thirsty to hear preachers speak from the Bible. But many of the pastors are uneducated and have a poor knowledge of the Word of God particularly as many are illiterate. Nonetheless they are leaders of churches and so have a significant impact on the spiritual life of their members, not always for the good. Pray that the Holy Spirit will transform the lives of pastors, particularly those who have had no formal theological training, so that they set an example of spiritual holiness and teach the whole spectrum of the gospel. This is especially important as it is just a matter of time before Islam becomes more evangelistic in Tanzania. Pray that Christians become equipped to withstand the persecution which may come their way within a short period of time.
