Steve Kweka

Added 27 July 2014

Steve Kweka is a dear friend of ours who has just been appointed as head teacher at DARAJA MBILI SCHOOL. It is a huge primary school with 2347 pupils - incredible! As we can imagine, with that number of pupils, many of them live in great poverty with limited prospects of receiving a secondary education due to the low income of their parents. Steve asks for us to pray for him as he learns his way around the school and leads staff and pupils. He has a vision to produce a significant change in educational standard but needs help. Can we rise to the challenge?Naturally it is daunting task but with God's help we can make a difference. Steve is trying hard to firstly reinforce teachers' interest to work hard and devote themselves in helping the poor children. Then he will call parents so that they can see how to work with teachers to overcome the poverty situation they are in. This will hopefully allow them to progress to a better life and benefit the coming generation. Steve said to me "Brother! I know with God every thing is possible, and that God will make a way where there is no way!" He specifically asks for child sponsors and computers so that IT can be taught. It is through education that change will occur. Steve wrote "The poverty is overwhelming and many children only get one meal a day which leads to a great number of absentees in school and encourage an increase of street children. I'm sure that our good God will make a way where there's no way 'cos his ways are marvelous."
