Fire at Steve Kweka's School

Added 20 December 2015

Our dear friend Steve Kweka is head teacher at the Daraja Mbili Primary School in which 4 classrooms and offices have been reduced to ashes following a night fire outbreak on December 4. Steve was shocked by what he witnessed, a scene of total destruction. Text and exercise books, sports equipment, desks, chairs, tables and other pieces of furniture from the rooms have all gone up in flames. Pupil's reports, end-of-year examination results and other important documents have all been destroyed by the fire. An electricity fault is suspected to be the main cause of the fire. The burnt down four classrooms used to cater for class seven pupils and accommodated 261 students between them.
The school educates 1400 pupils and is one of the poorest in Arusha. The fire is a major set back to the work that Steve has been doing during the last two years to raise educational standards and provide lunch for the pupils, who previously had no food during the school day.
Please pray for Steve to provide leadership in this crisis and for good to come out of a grim situation.
